Shore Excursion Chianti Wine Tour

This tour will allow you to discover the real Tuscan traditions. During the day we will guide you to discover the culture, the traditions, the food and of course the red wine “Chianti”, driving you around this scenery land south of Florence. We’ll stop in amazing places to let you take photos of the vineyards and of the castles.

A first stop is possible in Badia a Passignano, homeland of great red wines as the “Badia a Passignano” Chianti Classico and Riserva and the “Tignanello”. Then our driver will take you to Montefioralle, known as one of the nicest medieval villages in Italy, and then to Greve, the capital of the Chianti region. This last town will offers us a lot of small traditional shops overlooking charming square and alleys. We suggest the Falorni Butcher shop where you can find a large variety of hams hanging from the ceiling as well as cold cuts. Underground is located the 1400 cellar now used for aging the greatest Pecorino Cheeses (be careful, the smell is strong).

A Chianti tour would not be completed without wine tasting. We’ll reserved for you a private visit to the Montigliari Wine Company (www.montagliari.it) where you can participate to a guided tour of the property and their cellars, where still today wine is placed in wooden barrels. The highlight of the tour is the wine tasting of Chianti Classico, Riserva and SuperTuscan Brunesco. You can taste even balsamic vinegars also called “Salsa Di Mosto”, extravergin olives oil, vinsanto and grappa.
This place is also a great location to have lunch, tasting the simple traditional dishes of Mamma Bruna in her rustic restaurant. Summer lunches are served in the veranda, surrounded by the vineyards. Winter lunches are served by the fireplace.

Another option is to dedicate your day to a cooking lesson. An english speaking chef will teach you the secrets of our genuine dishes, always prepared with passion and love. You will cook with him using seasonal products to prepare 2 or 3 Tuscan recipes. After the lesson everyone is invited to enjoy the recipes at lunch. Of course, the dishes will be accompanied by local Chianti wine and by Vinsanto while having dessert.

Competitive prices are on request. For the cooking lesson is required a minimum number of 4 students. 

Other option from Livorno port would be a visit to Florence as first in the morning. We can reserve you the tickets for the Academy of Fine Art and for the Uffizi Gallery free of charges. This way you can skip the lines of visitors at save time. By noon we will drive you in the Chianti region to reach Montagliari Wine Company and enjoy tastings or an amazing home made dinner prepared by Mamma Bruna.
